Here are some of the common questions our clients ask us when making a booking or enquiring about the band:
How much does the band cost?
The fee depends on the type of ensemble you hire, the length of the performance and the location of the event. Please contact us for an accurate quote.
How do I make an enquiry or booking?
To book the band please contact us by phone, email, in writing, or use our online enquiry/booking form.
Do you require a deposit?
Yes, we ask for a booking deposit upfront. This allows us to confirm with our musicians for your event. We can accept full payment upfront, most clients prefer this (weddings especially) as it helps them and us manage event finances in the best way possible. It also helps us pay our band members on time, so we can ultimately provide the best service to you.
What details do I need to provide?
As many as possible, which include date, performance start and finishing times, type of ensemble, venue and contact details. [Please see our online form for more details].
How long do you play for?
We will perform either 2 or 3 sets depending on the length of your event. Please refer to your quote for more details.
Will you play requests?
We will play requests if they are made 4 weeks before the event or at the time of booking (whichever is the longest). Any requests made on the day cannot be guaranteed however if we know it, we will definitely play if for you!
How is a booking confirmed?
Bookings are confirmed through the Silk Street Hot Seven website or via email, or verbal confirmation.
Will you perform outside?
Yes, provided the weather is satisfactory (as long as it is dry and not too cold)
What equipment does the band have?
We travel light. On some occasions we do use amplification for the guitar and bass. This does not affect the volume and is merely for certain acoustic situations.
How much space does the band need?
The full 7-piece band needs a clear space of around 4m by 5m approximately.
Can the band march or walk?
The 7-piece band prefers to be stationary due to the amount of equipment being used, however we do offer smaller strolling options. When hiring a strolling option it is important that there is enough room for the band to move around the perfomance space and between the guests.
Will the band provide music inbetween their sets / during breaks?
We can provide you with music during their breaks, though there is an extra charge for this. We can also arrange for music of a similar style to be played and are happy to bring along CD’s for you to use on your own CD player. Please let us know in advance!
Are any other ensembles available?
Yes, these range from vocal jazz ensembles to string quartets. Please contact our affiliated site Silk Street Music and we can help you make a decision on the most appropriate ensemble for your special event.
Will the musicians perfoming be those in the pictures?
This very much depends on the musician’s availability at the time of booking. We cannot guarantee that the musicians shown on our website will be identical to those performing at any confirmed booking. However, the band always dresses smartly and we only use the best musicians in the business.
What are your cancellation terms?
If you cancel the booking within 6 months of the event the you are liable for 50% of the fee, Within 2 months of the event 75% of the fee and within 1 month of the event, you are liable for 100% of the fee. The booking deposit is non-refundable.
